MCMANUS PAT

Pat Frances McManus is from Derrylin, Co.Fermanagh , Northern Ireland, where he gew up in a family rich in traditionnal irsih music. Pat learned to play the violin from the age of five, going on to win many major titles.
At about the age of nine, he started to learn the guitar and by his late teens, had formed the rock band MAMAS BOYS with his brothers John and Tommy. Mamas Boys toured extensively, quickly picking up a recording contract with Jive Records and Arista in America. The band went on to international success, touring the USA, Europe and The Far East, working with acts such as BON JOVI, SCORPIONS, RUSH, THIN LIZZY, STING and many many more.
During this time they had a number one hit in Ireland with « Needle in the Groove » which stayed at the top for six weeks. A cover of « Mama We’re All Crazee Now » proved hugely popular in the USA and made the top of the Billboard One Hundred. MAMAS BOYS videos were also very popular on MTV, being right there at the start of the culture. This and continual touring made the band a top rock act around the world, especially in Europe where they had and have a huge fan base.
In 1994, the brothers had a change of direction and formed a new band CELTUS with a sound that blended together irish trad, rock and dance beats. Signing to Sony Music, they released four albums and toured with Sheryl Crow, Deacon Blue, Paul Garrick etc and played such festivals as Finsbury Park and Womad.
In 2001, Pat returned to live North Ireland to sped more time with family and get back to his roots. He started up his own group HGH VOLTAGE who are enjoying great success touring, playing a mix of Blues, Rock classics and of course from Pat’s large back catalogue of songs.
Pat has been involved in many other projects and sessions over the years and still enjoys playing the traditionnal muisc where t all started. He is a versatile musician, whose ability on guitar and fiddle is to be seen, to be believed. Most of all his love and faith in the music he plays is very musch who he is.

In 2007, Pat recorded his first solo album « In My Own Time » which is a collection of twelve new, self penned tracks. The album is a classic of mix of Blues/ Rock and whows off Pat’s fantastic guitar skills. The album has been warmly received and is already picking up airplay in both Ireland and the UK.
