BABYLON A.D

BABYLON A.D

Smoking' guitar riffs and hard driving rhythms, a must have for fans of Hair metal (Firehouse, Tora Tora, Ratt, Winger...)

Originally known as The Persuaders, Bay Area outfit Babylon A.D. also had to add the A.D. suffix to their moniker after complaints from another group in Chicago with the same name. The Illinois band claimed to have been using the name for around five years, prompting the Oakland outfit to slighty adjust thier new name just prior to the release of their eponymous debut with Arista. Formed approximately four years before the release of the Arista debut, Derek Davis and  Robb Reid had been school buddies and putt he group together after a good deal of friendly rivalry in other bands. The Arista deal arrived after record company showcase gigs in Los Angeles and then Babylon A.D sprent the next year or so writing, including several slints with ex-Surgin man Jack Ponti,a collaboration that accounted for five songs on the Simon Hanhart produced debut record. Babylon A.D. scored  valuable heavy radio play witht he track ‚Bang Go The Bells’. The track ‚Kid Goes Wild’ features a guest appearance from the late comedian Sam Kinison and was used as a score in Robocop 2. Babylon A.D toured in America supporting the ‚Nothing Sacred’ album on a three band bill with Roxy Blue and Wildside !

Babylon A.D enjoyed a good success with their 1989 s/t album and they still gained trust from Arista to release this second album in 1992. Their musical style is like a collision between the naughty touch of Warrant and the smokey locomotive rock and roll of Aerosmith. They're also heavily influenced by the classic rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and UFO.

Take a winning team, complete it with Tom Werman at the production (Poison, Mötley, Molly Hatchet, Kix, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, etc.), you get a pretty awesome chapter 2 in the genre. We had left them bathed in a smashing and powerful Hard US, they will not disappoint us with this second opus. The big melodies are always there.

Standout tracks here are "Take The Dog Off The Chain", "Psychedelic Sex Reaction", "Dream Train", and the absolute monstrous power ballad, "So Savage The Heart".

This is definitely a fun cruise of the 90s hard rock which was quite rare back then. Take aboard and sing your heart out for the good ol time!
